Dedicated to the people who do not count the days but the seconds. 2023/2024
When Hundrich speaks of „human beings,“ he refers to humanity as a whole, regardless of political, national, cultural, religious, or familial affiliations. His artistic perspective focuses on the universal aspects of being human that are common to all people, regardless of their origin, creed, or social background.
By disregarding individual identity and collective affiliation, Hundrich frees his art from any restrictions and barriers. He thereby creates works that can be timeless and relevant to people of all times and places.
His approach emphasizes the essence of being human and focuses on the fundamental emotions, experiences, and challenges that all people share. In doing so, he creates a connection between the viewers of his art and the common human experience.
Hundrich’s work can thus be understood as a universal message that resonates across cultures, nations, and generations. His installation shows shirts consisting of rescue blankets. Here, the golden side is turned outward, for attention, the silent call for help. The silver side, turned inward, so that one’s own body heat is not lost.

VII. Bilderstreit. 2024 / EV. Stadtkirche Sternberg – curated by Christine de Boom // https://hundrich.de/bilderstreit-ev-stadtkirche-sternberg-2024/
My installation captures the „unstable state of in-between existence,“ the moment when people are most are most defenseless, most vulnerable. The moment of radical exposure. The state in which all senses are sharpened to the maximum, all nerves are stretched to the breaking point, life is on a knife edge, every second becomes a living nightmare.
I make no distinction whether this situation is in the air, on the ground, in or on the water, on the street or behind closed doors.
on the street or behind closed doors.
When I say people, I mean all people who have ever lived, who are living now, and who will live. All human beings. In numbers so great that no one can imagine, let alone perceive. No politics, no nation, no tribe, no collective, no family, no religion or any other affiliation. No color, no small and no big. When I say human being, I mean all human beings, without exception, all human beings who have ever lived and will ever live.

- Requiem II / 2024 / dedicated to the dead, the victims of physical and psychological violence.
VI. Requiem, 2024 / This installation is not, as the title usually suggests, dedicated to the deceased. Rather, it is dedicated to the people who were killed. Because people – people want to kill, have to kill, because it is in accordance with their orders, their duties or the circumstances.
This Requiem is also dedicated to the people, to the bereaved, to those left behind, for whom the philosophical phrase that is too often – thoughtlessly – thrown into the room at this time is: „Nothing will ever be the same again“ is a brutal reality.
This requiem is also dedicated to the victims of physical and psychological violence.
At the same time, my Requiem also denounces the perpetrators who turn people into victims because they declare their endless suffering and death is necessary, acceptable, or even demanded if it serves „the greater, higher cause“.
V. Octobre, 7th. 2023 / Israel – early in the morning I was on my way to Stralsund to dismantle my installation in St. Jacob’s Church „Dedicated to people who count not the days but the seconds“.
Breaking news, Israel: fighters from the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas attacked Israel, breaking through the barrier to the Gaza Strip. The terrorists committed massive crimes against civilians, more than 1200 people were killed and around 240 hostages were taken to Gaza / Escalation in the Middle East / Massive attack on Israel. Palestinian militants invaded Israel by land, sea and air. The country was officially put on a state of readiness for war / No more detailed information is available at this time.
Deeply affected, horrified, shocked by these events, I transformed my installation. / https://hundrich.de/jetzt-in-diesem-moment-2023/
