Palmyra Sculpture Garden, Alaro, Islas Baleares, Spain

the first days on the island were wonderful. Just right to relax after these concentrated and busy months. Lean back, relax in the sun, on the beach…. fall asleep. I would have wished… but I didn’t think it would be possible at this time of the year. Two or three days of rest, breakfast in the sun, then reading and letting the thoughts run around like young dogs, after long days of being controlled are finally allowed to run and romp again.

The place, the wall – finished a few weeks ago, left or right side of the fig tree, rehearsal – to the right of the tree, so that text and wall correspond and create a common beginning in the open space. I like the fig tree on the left side.
Provisionally, for now. Height and spacing need to be determined, electrical wiring laid… also provisional because…. the good news, the light installation gets its own solar panels.

It gets dark, the light shines too bright. It gets really dark, the night becomes black, the light’s intensity is growing. Further neighbors call and want to know if the Ufos have landed. The light is blinding.
Next day, a quick call to the manufacturer, no problem, the dimmers are already on their way.

The first lightnings, flashes tear the night apart, a strong storm comes up, accompanied by heavy rain.It stays like this for the next days and nights.
All is well, the light installation does not mind the weather, only the wall begins to sway.
And it is as always, the first slipping stone becomes the impetus that makes the wall break. The storm becomes more violent, the endless rain finds its way, the hole in the wall becomes bigger.
The light installation was only provisional, can be dismantled accordingly fast again, is brought into the dry place and waits for better times – till the wall is back again, the installation will be installed. Christmas… about, that is the plan. Hundrich. novembre, 2021 Islas Baleares
