MEMORIES

From the life jackets – the river has become.
From the coat hangers – the chair,
on which no one can sit.

Only those
we remember.

THE PRESENT… lasts only three seconds.
What remains is memory. It fades over time, disappears –
and if we’re lucky, it becomes one of the few that stay.

The chair stands as a symbol of this memory:
not as a place where someone can take a seat, but as a form for what is missing –
for absence, for what is no longer there
and yet remains present.

There is much talk about responsibility, community – and about what must not divide us.
But the simplest, the most essential thing – that which connects all life –
is often overlooked.

For all who live
are immortal.
At least in this one moment.

Death does not distinguish –
not by skin color, religion, not by great or small, poor or rich.
It only distinguishes between those who leave
and those who remain.

What remains?
Pain. Memory. And the promise
that one day things will become lighter.
Simpler. Better.

Perhaps so much so
that one day we might smile about it,
perhaps even laugh.

Three quotes – of course taken out of context:
“We will act when the situation demands it – and we will act, whatever it takes.”
“We must think things from the end.”
“Who can truly know what is good or bad?”

Tonight – here, now – I prefer the second one:
We must think things from the end.

Because the end is now.
In this very moment.
And nothing will ever be as it was.

The present lasts only three seconds.
What remains is memory – and the moment that follows the next.

Sometimes it becomes a string of pearls, sometimes a Gordian knot,
and if we are lucky – a song.
A melody that touches the heart.

It is high time – to speak of the only constant –
and that is: now.

This moment, the only one in which everything
is exactly as it just was.

Good morning, world.
I wish you a magnificent evening –
one that remains.
